Cuprite with Olivenite
1
Unknown Owner
A pair of magnificent, deep burgundy, octahedral Cuprite crystals, together with one partly intergrown smaller crystal, sit on a thumbnail sized mound of rhombohedral micro-crystals of creamy-tan Calcite. The two principle Cuprite crystals measure 0.9 cm on edge and form perfectly developed octahedrons with scaly growth patterns on their faces. Very dark-green Olivenite, appearing black, sits between, and as inclusions within, the Calcite crystals, forming occasional micro-acicular crystals and granules, but these are only recognizable under magnification. A superb thumbnail sized specimen of octahedral Cuprite.
