Wulfenite
Bright yellow Wulfenite of this color is so rare from the famed, and now closed, Tsumeb Mine. Very glassy and lustrous, transparent-to-translucent crystals entirely compose this large thumbnail. The largest crystal, whose classic, pillow-shaped habit forms the straight portion of the horizon, is 1.3 cm on edge. The crystals are in good condition, and a close look shows how modified and interesting the individual crystals actually are. This cluster is more complex than average with the intergrowth and crystal forms, and equally above-average for aesthetics, as well. Any scattered, and very minor, bruising is less than a normal Wulfenite cluster from modern mining, and this is from the 1960s or 1970s. In context, a few small bruises are hard to see unless right up close, and certainly minimally detracting to this rare-color Tsumeb Wulfenite. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 35980.
