Alamosite with Melanotekite
SPECTACULAR for what it is, this is an exceptionally uncommon rare species mineral specimen in display quality, from the great Tsumeb mine. Alamosite is a surprisingly simple lead silicate that is somehow only rarely found in fine crystals. This is from the singular world's best pocket of material found at Tsumeb more than 40 years ago! Here, the Alamosites exist as long slender crystals to slightly over 2 cm. They are translucent with a high, adamantine luster, and the off-white crystals display very well. Their growth density and parallel nature give the impression of a grove of bamboo. Minor black spots of Melanotekite are in association. One of Tsumeb's ultimate rarities, and a fantastic example of this style, this miniature was previously in the renowned collection of Marty Zinn and Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - SCH4613. There are likely only a dozen such specimens in existence. This might be the last chance in a generation to acquire and own a significant example (and the last decent example I know of, another fine miniature from the John Schneider collection, last sold a decade or so ago).
