Smithsonite var. Cobaltian
Slender, tapered crystals are among Smithsonite's most uncommon habits, and Smithsonite is regarded as one of Tsumeb's signature species. This cluster is composed of three, elegant, fine, pink Cobaltoan Smithsonites to 2.5 cm. The wide splaying and significant size of the crystals create a beauty and elegance, with multiple viewing angles. Two of the tips are slightly cleaved, a common occurrence for carbonates, but that detracts little from the substantial beauty and aesthetics of this choice miniature. Tsumeb classics such as this were found, sparingly, in the 1960s and 1970s. Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher - 27534.
