Sharp and incredibly metallic-lustrous crystals of cuprite, perched atop contrasting matrix, glow cherry red when strongly backlit. This is a balanced miniature with a nice cluster atop, 2 cm overall (crystals to about 1 cm). It does take strong light, but they glow amazingly well! In such material, very few, under 1 in 1000, have a surface with such strong luster, and that luster makes this special enough that Steve Smale kept it for decades. From 1980s finds (we assume). Note this is a small miniature or a very large thumbnail, right at the size edge.
