This richly crystallized large thumbnail specimen from Tsumeb mine is probably, due to its deep green colour, Olivenite, but some of the more vibrant green areas could possibly be Zincolivenite. The classic association of bright canary yellow Gartrellite (lead copper iron arsenate hydroxide hydrate) adds to the colourful nature of this piece. Under magnification it can be seen that the Olivenite crystals are formed of many tiny stepped crystals aggregated into larger (3 to 4 mm) crystals adding to the fascination.
