A mirror-like single crystal of literally unbelievable quality, that has to be seen to be believed! This is NOT just some random nice hematite crystal. It is special...mirror bright and reflective on both sides to where it is hard to photograph! It is one of the finest of its kind, for this style, from the famous iron mining district of Brumado. Accented by tiny red rutile crystals and a few small white magnesite, this is a world class, pristine, complete 360, competitive miniature for a single crystal example of the species. Brought out of Brazil and sold by the Melanson's in 1993. to Roy Smith, and later to Jack Halpern. figure 81 on page #92 of Addicted to Beauty: The Legacy of Jack Halpern (Mineralogical Record, March 2025). Laszlo Kupi photos.
