Very attractive needlelike crystals of rutile throughout this matrix with crystallized metallic hematite. Quite nice for the species. Slight damage to some of the hematite as seen and is typical. Quartz is present as well.Novo Horizonte, located in the Bahia state of Brazil, is situated within the geologically complex Paramirim Aulacogen, an intraplate structural basin characterized by Proterozoic metavolcanosedimentary sequences such as the Rio dos Remédios Group. The regional geology features acid volcanic and siliciclastic rocks affected by ancient rifting, subsequent tectonic inversion, and hydrothermal activity. Historically, local artisanal and small-scale mining efforts gained international attention due to the area yielding exceptional mineral specimens. The locality is world-famous among collectors for producing excellent quartz crystals, particularly transparent smoky quartz infused with needle-like inclusions of golden rutile and hematite.
