Datolite
Datolite, a calcium boron hydroxide nesosilicate, forms an intergrown bed of greenish-yellow crystals up to 3.5 cm wide from Bor Pit at the Dal'negorsk B deposit in Primorsky Krai, Russia. This is a vast open pit, measuring approximately 3 x 1.5 km and worked for boron; “bor” being the Russian word for boron. Examined in more detail, the Datolite crystals are in general pale apple green which gradually grade to acidic yellow towards each prism’s top surfaces. The overall lustre is bright and glassy, so completing this highly attractive small cabinet specimen.\n
