This is a gorgeous, shimmering blue plate of classic Kelly Mine Smithsonite from the most famous USA locality for Smithsonite. It is a large horizontal plate of unusual quality and without damage, complete from tip to tip and even around the backside, edges, and reverse. The condition, for a piece of this size, is rare. The color is excellent, the luster is very nice, and there is something special about the crystallization on this piece (as with many that Zinn kept over the decades), where the growths seem more crystallized and less rounded than usual. This is one of the few dozen display specimens from the important collection Martin Zinn, who lived in and specialized in New Mexico minerals for part of his collecting career.
