Szenicsite
Szenicsite is one of those lucky rare mineral species that also happens to be gorgeous. These look like big torbernite crystals, in fact. However, it is a very very rare species containing copper and molybdenum, discovered by our friend Terry Szenics in the 1980s while prospecting for other minerals at this, the type location in Chile. The entire discovery, the entire supply, was in a pocket area less than 1 cubic meter! This is a rich, space-filling, and volumetric thumbnail specimen with excellent color and large crystals to over 1.2 cm. It is unusually aesthetic as a cluster, as well. This passed from Szenics to Ernie Schlichter, and then to Shields Flynn. It includes an autographed label from Szenics to his friend Ernie, signed on the back.
