This is an outstanding Gold specimen from the Round Mountain Mine, especially for its size class. This is from a small find in 2007 that to my mind sets the standard for Gold from this locality and finally ranked it among the finest US locales for gold. The piece features several, large, very sharp, flattened trigons of Gold that host or are composed of dozens of flattened Gold crystals in tandem and some also have grown out in elongate appendages displaying distinct Gold crystals. It's quite remarkable as the front looks totally different from the back. This is a very sculptural and aesthetic piece, not to mention its sheer brightness, metallic luster, and purity of color. This is an exceptional Gold from a mine that before recently was not even on the map for such things, and all such specimens seem to have come out of a small area there. This beauty has a mass of 12.97 grams and presents much more 3-dimensionally in person than in a photo.
