Description
The Fluorapatite crystals from Myanmar have a very distinct denim blue color, and this 8+cm example is one of the longer found from the relatively small deposits in Mogok Valley, from a few finds in the late 90s or early 2000s. Two intergrown crystals form the majority of the specimen, with several smaller crystals at the base. This hasn't yet been professionally cleaned, as it is mine-run, and the hazy coating of some secondary mineral (calcite?) could surely be able to be cleaned off to improve gemminess. A bonus, it is Fluorescent as well! Mass of 10.6 grams. This small find of gem blue apatite is among best of species, gram per gram, and nothing has been found recently.
Known provenanceKnowing where your specimen comes from and who owned it adds to its story and value. Good provenance helps prove it's authentic and preserves important details about its discovery.
