A special and aesthetic, elegant aquamarine floater crystal, this comes from the famous Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. Here, hard-to-reach and hard-to-find gem deposits for aquamarine have lured collectors for 60 years. This particular specimen was sold from noted Idaho field collector Geary Murdock into a private collection specializing in Idaho minerals and history (a private but well known customer, who had impeccable sourcing for his Idaho minerals over decades). Totally gem aquamarines from Idaho are very rare, and this is more than just a representative thumbnail specimen from a locality - it is a superb, dramatic, gemmy, worthy aquamarine thumbnail that only ALSO happens to be from Idaho as an extra bonus. The saturated color is typical and well known from this location, although again not in such perfect specimens of such gemminess. We have seen bigger, but not finer.
