Tucson, Arizona, USAThis beautiful small cabinet specimen of snow-white Flos Ferri is from the famous locality of Styrian Erzberg in Eisenerz, Austria. Flos Ferri is a coral-like variety of Aragonite and forms complex curling structures occupying a volume of approximately 6 x 6 x 3 cm on top of an ironstone matrix. Although not classed as the type locality, Styrian Erzberg was the first location where the variety Flos Ferri was recognised. 'Eisenerz' translates to Ore Mountain, this locality being home to the largest deposit of Siderite in the world. This excellent and compact specimen packs a lot of punch and is a great example of this very sculptural form of Aragonite.
