Wire transfers available, to set up
The Magnesite (and Talc) pits near to Brumado in the state of Bahia, Brazil are renowned for their excellent Magnesite crystals as well as a few exotic rare-earth bearing species. As well as these, they have produced some really lovely complex Dolomite crystals as is displayed by this wonderful large miniature specimen. Two sharply formed crystals of Dolomite - one pseudohexagonal in form - are seen on classic colourless rhombic crystals of Magnesite. Most such Dolomite specimens appear to have come from the Pomba pit at Serra das Éguas. The gemmy crystals of Dolomite measure up to 2.7 cm across and are colour zoned from colourless to a light golden sherry-yellow, on gemmy to translucent intergrown crystals of Magnesite. To add to its beauty and intrigue, the main crystal face of the largest Dolomite crystal presents a bizarre texture of circular patterns. A choice Dolomite specimen and an unusual one to show such colour zoning.
