Galena
Unknown Owner
The Madan Ore Field in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria has been worked since early Roman times and although a wide variety of mineral species are produced, it is perhaps best known for its seemingly endless habits of beautifully crystallised Galena (lead sulphide). This superb miniature is a bright silver metallic group of intergrown cubic, cuboctahedral and octahedral crystals with the crystal faces aligned by precise epitaxial growth. A beautiful, eye-catching and fascinating Bulgarian Galena; a specimen which perfectly illustrates epitaxial crystal growth. This stunning miniature comes with the previous collector's card label.
