Crystal ClassicsFeatured
Tucson, Arizona, USAA stunning large miniature specimen of stepped habit castellated Vanadinite in a triangular configuration, from the classic Moroccan location of Mibladen. It is easy to become numb to Moroccan Vanadinite due to the sheer volume of specimens that have been mined and sold over the past two decades, but specimens at the higher end of quality will undoubtedly become irreplaceable classics in time. Indeed, prior to the discoveries in Morocco, Arizona very much lead the world in terms of fine red crystallized Vanadinite, but look at the Arizona specimens now and they don't compare in the slightest. This particular form of Vanadinite from Morocco, as 'floater' composite crystals, I liken to dragon scales, where the hexagonal crystals overlap in wonderful patterns. The colour is immense, of the richest fine red-orange, but with that so desirable 'wet' lustre. Flashes of yellow occur on on some crystal sides. The specimen is mounted on a black stand. A stunning, larger specimen of this extremely unusual form, only seen from Morocco, and rarely in this quality. Older material, pre-2014.
