Smithsonite
A beautiful specimen of translucent, bubble-gum pink Smithsonite crystals from the Tsumeb Mine in Namibia. Rounded lenticular crystals of Smithsonite measuring to 1.2 cm are richly intergrown over the display face of the milky-white Quartz-Galena matrix. As is so often observed in such specimens, the lustre and texture of adjacent crystal faces varies between smooth with a silky lustre and lightly etched to reveal geometrical growth patterns parallel to the primary axis. The matrix is richly sprinkled with sub-3 mm Quartz crystals, a species surprisingly rare as crystals through out this mine. This cobalt-rich variety of Smithsonite is a delightful colour and will look tremendous set in any display cabinet or drawer.
