Characteristic, raspberry red Rhodonite occurs as blocky-tabular, translucent to near gemmy crystals of up to 1.2 cm embedded and standing proud of bright, metallic, silvery-grey Galena, with yellowish crude Calcite crystals. This classic miniature is from North mine at Broken Hill in New South Wales, Australia. The combination of Rhodonite crystals in Galena is unique to Broken Hill (as far as I'm aware!) which does entitle it to being called a true classic and even warrants the elevated title of iconic! If you are assembling a Broken Hill suite, then one of these is a must!
