NATIVE Gold
Unknown Owner
A striking single wire of Native Gold emanating from a sub-thumbnail block of opaque milky-Quartz from the Round Mountain mine in the Toquima Range of Nye County, Nevada, USA; this mine is also known as the Sunnyside mine. The wire measures in excess of 6 cm long overall and if straightened is estimated to be about 7.3 cm. The Native Gold is a pure gold colour and the wire is flattened with parallel grooves running its entire length on two opposing faces. Small hackly Native Gold fronds branch out all along the wire, each to only about 1 mm either side, similar to barbed wire and greatly adding to its aesthetic appeal. A stunning specimen from the Round Mountain mine.
