Crystal ClassicsFeatured
Tucson, Arizona, USAA delightful and very fine small cabinet specimen of well crystallised Wulfenite from the famous Red Cloud mine in La Paz County, Arizona, USA. It is useful to note that specimens are often labelled as Yuma County, however, in 1983 Yuma county was divided into two counties, Yuma and La Paz, with Red Cloud mine falling into the latter. This is a typical situation (or dilemma!) in topographical mineralogy, so present day labelling is a matter of choice to the modern collector. This example displays excellent, barley sugar orange Wulfenite crystals with a bright lustre measuring to 1.7 cm, which densely cover a manganese-iron oxide and Calcite matrix. Red Could mine is a true American classic and so too is this superb characteristic specimen.
