Quartz on Calcite
Unknown Owner
A terrific sputnik-like cluster of radiating creamy opaque Calcite scalenohedral crystals with a choice 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.0 cm group of bi-pyramidal opaque, glassy, buff coloured Quartz crystals perched on top. From the Dal'negorsk mining region in Primorskiy Kray, within the Far-Eastern Region of Russia, the lustrous, mirror smooth faces of the Quartz crystals contrast nicely against the matt Calcite. A 1.5 x 0.8 cm patch of a micro-crystalline jet-black mineral is attached to one side, but of uncertain species. A great miniature, just great for display.
