Tucson, Arizona, USAAt first glance, this specimen is not very special, but it is very deceiving. While it is "only" a Smithsonite, this specimen has quite a lot going on for its size. The base of the specimen consists of intergrown crystals of a reddish colour, probably due to iron oxide inclusions, while the crystals that manage to escape this plane are of a lighter colour reminiscing of fine French champagne. An excellent little miniature from the John Schneider collection.
