Aesthetic, highly lustrous and transparent red-orange pair of sharp-edged undamaged crystals that form a “V” with the left crystal showing a small matrix attachment at the bottom. Unusual form and style, and a bit more red than the usual red-orange hues here. It was long in the important collection of Jim and Dawn Minette and comes with his personal index card, which states that he personally collected the specimen on the 75 foot level in April 1971. It has a vivid color saturation and a special brightness to it that conveys impact, when so many simply do not. The Minette collection was considered, at its peak, the best overall thumbnail collection for a reason! Alex wanted this as a first choice when the Minette collection was broken up by Bunk and Weinrich, and purchased it from Dave Bunk at that time. Also, includes a label for the 2016 “Wulfenite: Proposed Arizona State Mineral” showcase, shown at the TGMS Show. Many Red Cloud thumbnails exist, certainly, but this is special and was in the important wulfenite suite of the Schauss collection, based in Tucson, for a reason. Easier to convey in person!
