Gold comes in so many forms, and we are always surprised by diversity in this seemingly simple natural element. However, what i like about this piece is that it combines multiple forms of crystal habits in one specimen - you see leaves mixed with small, sharp octahedra and flat trigon shapes. The patterning looks machined and is mesmerizing in detail the more you look at it. This piece is likely somewhat old. It came out of a gold collection through dealer Doug Wallace in Dallas many years ago (he specializes in gold), then to Cal Graeber, and to collector Tim Sherburn.
