From the Rock Currier Collection #3402, acquired in 1978 in a shipment from Clive Queit, comes this gemmy, translucent smithsonite crystal that is a surprising thumbnail specimen of competitive caliber. It is one of those rare habits you only see from Tsumeb, from a few pockets in the 1960s and 1970s, of so-called "scalenohedral" or "elongated " smithsonite. This one is big, complete, and has a nice color to it. It is about as big as you could ask, and still just barely be a competition thumbnail specimen. While other styles of crystallized Tsumeb smithsonites are common in comparison — this is something you do not see much of. Photographed for mindat.org: https://www.mindat.org/73N-M47
