Cobaltoan smithsonite from Tsumeb is, for a lot of reasons, considered the best of the variety of colored smithsonites by many people. Partly, for the color saturation - in which this piece is strong! Partly, for the crystal shape - the sharp and elongated, fat scalenohedra as you see here. But rarely do we get both qualities in aesthetic specimens and with such luster. This fine display miniature is a classic example from the 1970s, with deeper color than most!
