Richly colored an unusual color for this material, this is a stunning and gemmy topaz crystal from the famous Imperial Topaz gem mines. It is a distinct reddish-orange rather than the various shades of orange and yellow-orange we often see, and this glassy and gemmy crystal of imperial topaz elicits memories of the best of Ouro Preto because of the color saturation. You can see it from across a room, the color glows so strongly. Again, it is a somewhat unusual color, with more saturation than most, and this is typical of some of the oldest material here (pre-1990s). It has a few very slight nicks, only visible on very close inspection (and in the close-up photo), but really not seen unless you look very closely in person. It has never been to a lab for restoration or perhaps even for any cleaning at all, and seems natural. Should you wish to remove the slight dings, which is easily doable, a bit of restoration could be done in the lab. However the dings are too trivial to bother with, in person, in our opinion, and the color really makes this worth seeing and having. 13 grams.
