Tsumeb is famous for COLORFUL smithsonite. This piece is unique in that, literally, it has no color, amongst a crowd of the rainbow smithsonites that came out of this mine. Actually, it is really surprising! Totally covering one side of this shard of matrix are intergrown, highly lustrous rhombs of translucent, nearly pearlescent smithsonite. Highly unusual. Rising above this groundmass is a single rhomb measuring 1.6 cm in length. Metropolis collection.
