This piece is from a one-time find of the rare lead-zinc arsenate species in 1988 at the Ojuela Mine in Mexico, still considered to this day to be the single best pocket of the species. You almost never see one for sale, and when you do, you can see these are immediately recognizable from simple green mimetite, from later finds at the same mine. Rich green, velvety, scintillating botryoids of Arsendescloizite with white-yellow rounded, finely crystalline Mimetite aggregates distributed along the "waist" of the specimen and along one end, the classic combination noted in past articles on the pocket (see old Mexico theme issues of the Mineralogical Record). This is an exceptionally attractive miniature for the species with mounded deep green Mottramite on one side and several glossy botryoids on the opposite side. On the backside, the mineral is strangely associated with some fine-grained, earthy manganese oxides (goethite perhaps?), that seem to be intergrown. From the Kay Robertson collection
