This Cobalt-bearing Calcite piece is one of the more unique ones from Morocco that I have yet seen for sale from contemporary finds here. It is a super colorful, large, smooth botryoid covered with tiny, sparkling microcrystals that form a glistening surface all over the piece. The color is mind boggling, exhibiting a vibrant, translucent, almost neon-magenta color through and through! The rich magenta of this piece is truly amazing for the locality and for the color of any comparably hued mineral of any species. This Cobalt-bearing Calcite is pristine without any bruising and looks fabulous all around 360 degrees! A very three-dimensional specimen with great visual impact! It is from the Herb Obodda collection, and would date back to some of the earlier finds here in the mid 2000s, not to the most recent finds which have a different look. It is stunning in a case!
