Obtained from the late Dr. Steve Neely, this was a "jewel" as he called it, from one of the few fine modern era pockets we can document for style and color from the last few years of workings at Elmwood. Older miners have been able to go back in and find pockets, although not very many. Steve bought a number of these at one time around 2015-16, it seems, and was quite proud of them. They have the shape of previous Elmwood finds, but the color is subtly different, and they are on a weird white-gray matrix that is curvy and soft-looking; and also seems like partially powdered baryte, perhaps barium-rich dolomite. Here is a particularly elegant example from that pocket which we exchanged from him at that time, with a sharp 8 cm calcite twin, standing proudly vertical in the middle of a balanced cluster. It is complete and without damage all around and extraordinarily gemmy and transparent in person, although that is difficult to see in photos because the camera has trouble with gem calcite refraction.
