Large, steel-gray, octahedral crystals of siegenite to 5mm adorn the front surface of this great specimen from the Buick mine in Missouri. The siegenite crystals are only slightly aggregated so the crystal forms are quite distinct. Siegenite is an uncommon cobalt nickel sulfide and is an extremely rare mineral from Missouri's Viburnum Trend. Isolated, sharp, isometric, steel-gray siegenite crystals are very aesthetically scattered on the matrix. A malformed galena crystal is perched on one edge. Dolomite with abundant disseminated siegenite and minor galena serve as the matrix for this rich specimen. From the important finds at the Buick mine in the 1980's. The quality of this particular piece is among the highest we have seen.
