The world famous Tsumeb mine was a wonder locality, with over 300 mineral species identified from the mine, 72 being type-locality finds. Some of the finest smithsonite specimens from anywhere were found here, with huge variations in color, form, and associations. This aesthetic thumbnail specimen features a small cluster of smithsonite crystals with the largest crystal at 2.5cm standing as a focal point on the piece, and smaller elongated smithsonite crystals cascading down the side. From the well-known Namibian mineral collection of Shields and Frances Flynn, who self-published the book, Minerals of Namibia - From the Collection of Shields and Frances Flynn in 2018 and the collection of Alex Schauss.
