Description
A classic of the silver mining district of ancient Germany, this is a particularly elegant thumbnail example of the rare silver mineral stephanite, consisting of a large compound crystal elegantly rising from a matrix of smaller crystals. The crystal is repaired onto the matrix at a lock-fit break. It came off in shipment to us and I suspect there was already old glue at the junction. We repaired it here, and you can see the break where it fits and locks together. The display quality of the piece, for what it is, is striking.
