Accented by a flowery growth of ivory colored barite is a huge, intensely cognac-colored, sparkling and gemmy, twinned and doubly terminated, calcite crystal. Here is a huge example of that classic "Elmwood twin" style which typically occured at this mine more than anywhere else, although not usually in complete crystals of this size and condition. For such a large crystal, this specimen is remarkably free of damage except for just the slightest touch of wear on a tip of the left "wing" of one crystal. Wow! In person, this is one of the most dramatic of the large twins we have here, with deep color and excellent luster and gemminess - especially for the combination of size and price range. We obtained this and others here long ago from the long held private estate collection of Houston dealers Consie and Dalton Prince, who sold so much of this material in the 1980s-90s.
