A large gold thumbnail specimen featuring antique-style, robust, sharp crystals perched on a bit of quartz matrix, from the famous old Motherlode District of Northern California. While gold thumbnails have survived in some number from old workings here, most do not have so much coverage in this size range and this is fairly impressive in coverage and surface area due to the flattened and large crystals. So, the piece is a thumbnail, but unlike most that are only gold or small bits of gold atop quartz, this piece lets the gold really flamboyantly display atop the sparing amount of matrix. It is hard to describe how impressive and impactful it is for a "small gold" in words as the eye sees detail so much better, so please watch the video.
