Sharp, large crystals of classic soft pink Smithsonite like this can only be from Tsumeb and were found in the late 1960s and in the 1970s. This is a very robust, 3-dimensional cluster of lustrous, translucent to transparent, intergrown crystals of pastel pink, Cobaltian Smithsonite to an astounding 2.5 cm in length. The composite cluster is almost rounded in appearance, as if the crystals are draped over a central pole, but the large, gemmy crystals are still very distinct. This is a very unusual style for Tsumeb and makes for a significant Smithsonite miniature! A small amount of sulfide matrix on the bottom for added interest and contrast. The Smithsonite crystals are in perfect condition.
