This is an exceptionally large specimen of the rare double salt leonite from the ancient potash works near Hannover in Germany. Leonite forms thick honey-colored interpenetrating blades which sit perched on colorless cubes of halite. The largest individual leonite measures about 3 cm long, while the largest halite measures 2 cm on edge. This is one of the largest specimens of the species we are aware of. Great quality, and virtually impossible to find in such excellent crystals which are not pseudomorphs. Please note that these species are vulnerable to moisture and can easily be dissolved in a humid environment. However, it survived for maybe 60 years in LA, in Kay Robertson's collection, just fine.
