Gold
A stunning example of the naturally iridescent natural golds which came out in the early 1900s from the famous Breckenridge District of Colorado, this superb small miniature has crystals of several habits, accented with incredibly beautiful iridescent patina that one almost never sees. The reason you do not see the colors on Colorado golds like this, is most were cleaned with acid. This is probably au naturale, since the day it came out. Given the unique style, this is almost certainly from the Wapiti Mine in the area, according to the accompanying label. Ex Pohndorf (1866-1939) (http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=78), to F John Barlow collection (sold off in 1999). A rarity. Complete 360, all around. Mass is 12 grams, nearly.
