Blue Alkali Beryl
Jauntily perched on pearlescent white muscovite mica matrix is a single large, 2 cm, doubly terminated, alkali-rich beryl crystal. The crystal is lustrous and translucent and exhibits a rich sky blue color. This is a superb display specimen and is my favorite of the thumbnail pieces in this lot. It looks carved, and the contrast of color and the pedestal of micaceous matrix is dramatic. It is complete all around. Superb thumbnail! These were originally thought to be Rosterite or Vorobyevite, but further analysis by Dr. Federico Pezzotta confirmed they are alkali-rich beryls.
