Gorgeous naturally etched terminated glassy perfect gem yellow crystal of beryl, this is the variety known as heliodor. In super condition all around, the quality is excellent. Including the base, this weighs 40.75 g.The Khoroshiv Raion district, historically known as Volodarsk-Volynskii, located in the Zhytomyr Oblast of Ukraine, is a world-class mineral locality famed for producing giant topaz crystals, vibrant heliodor beryl, and dark smoky quartz. Geologically, these unique mineralizations are hosted within the massive, Proterozoic-age Korosten pluton, specifically within complex pocket-bearing pegmatites embedded inside large anorthosite and granite bodies. Slow cooling of these late-stage magmatic fluids allowed vast miarolitic cavities to develop, providing the ideal chemical environment for huge, well-terminated gem crystals to grow alongside albite and microcline feldspar. Industrial-scale exploration and mechanized mining for piezo-quartz and optical-grade raw materials expanded rapidly under Soviet state enterprises starting in the 1930s, peaking during the post-World War II era through the 1980s. Following privatization shifts after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, large-scale state operations declined, but underground mining and specimen recovery by commercial enterprises and specialized teams have continued intermittently into the 2020s.
