Elmwood calcites of the gem style, with see-through clarity on black matrix, are seldom seen for sale today. Glassy and gemmy, with a rich amber color, this 6 cm-across calcite crystal is doubly terminated and twinned. It is also aesthetically emplaced on small black crystals of sphalerite. It is bright, sparkling, and just dramatic for what you can get in this size and price range from these most classic of older finds (early 1980s). This was in my own collection when I was growing up, and for decades after. A superbly balanced specimen, I held out of sentiment for many years.
