Lustrous, blocky, cream-colored smithsonite rhombs to 1.5 cm cover one face of the sculptural box-work matrix of pink dolomite on this fine specimen from the Tsumeb Mine. Interestingly, the smithsonite chemistry was highly variable on this piece, as the smithsonites on the bottom are all tiny scalenohedrons, rather than rhombs. All sides of the L-shaped dolomite crust have smithsonite crystals.
