Truly fine cobaltian smithsonites from Tsumeb are among the world's best of species, but so often they are small crystals or lack either luster or color. This piece, a dramatic small cab that could be trimmed to an even more dramatic miniature (hmmmm...!), is more beautiful than most. On massive, black sulfide ore is a fine cluster of lustrous and translucent rich pink rhombohedrons of cobaltoan smithsonite, highlighted by a 2.2 cm crystal, perched beautifully at the top of the specimen. Ex. Art Soregaroli Collection.
