Rhodonite with Bannisterite

This is a rare form of rhodonite from Broken Hill, Australia originating from a small find back in the 60s (i am told). It hosts stunning pink and reddish (depending on orientation) delicate crystals of rhodonite growing off a plate of matrix and the crystals grew freely in the pocket and NOT associated with or embedded in galena! Therefore, the crystals have really perfect faces and terminations that are not rounded or constrained by contact. The color saturation is lower, but the elegance factor is higher and they are super rare. These attractive rhodonites range in size from 2mm to 1.6cm and are associated with sharp black, flattened prismatic crystals of bannisterite to 1.2cm. Several of the larger crystal are lying with the long axis parallel to the matrix and are doubly terminated! I have seen just a handful of this specimen type for sale. Ex.
