Aurichalcite

The Kelly Mine is known far and wide for SMITHSONITE. Occasionally one might see a calcite from here. But very rarely do you see any other associated minerals in this mine. Note the presence of a single, elongated "rice grain" smithsonite crystal to the left. These botryoidal, beautiful aurichalcite specimens are as rare as finding a needle in a haystack there, and only came out a few times in the history of the mine. This is the best quality with the best color and form, that you could ask for in this species from the Kelly. To me, they also rank as the world's top examples for this species. And lastly, they are just plain pretty, as well. No other mineral looks quite like this, with such blue color saturation in rounded botryoidal crystals.
