The calcite here is eerily reminiscent of an Elmwood twin; but no, it really is from China (and far more rare) ! You can be sure of it when you see the dark country-rock matrix covered with transparent-to-translucent calcites of a completely different habit, setting off the golden calcite in a gorgeous way! The big calcite measures 12.5 cm! 15 x 12 x 7.5 cm

Calcite from Leiping Mine, China
from Leiping Mine, in the Leiping area of Guiyang County, Chenzhou, Hunan, is one of the unmistakable modern Chinese calcite styles: lustrous, sharp, often translucent to gemmy crystals animated by warm iron-oxide and hematite color. The best specimens do not rely on size alone. They have architecture—wing-like twins, stacked rhombs, spiky scalenohedral sprays, and multi-generation crystals where clear late calcite wraps or caps an older, rust-red included core.
