A remarkable, dramatic, HUGE specimen with a sturdy 7 x 5 x 1 cm cluster of intricately intergrown gold crystals perched smartly upon the top of a plate of quartz matrix. It is thick, solid gold - not "bendy" or fragile in the least. The gold is supported by an extension of the matrix all along its back, carefully removed from the sides but left to support the gold itself. The gold crystals feature several forms of the species, from elongated octahedral crystals and flattened octahedra along the edges to a rich mass of densely-packed thin, wirelike, spinel-twinned crystals right in the middle. Most large gold specimens are simply prohibitively priced for obvious reasons - they are showy as heck and people like them, even the non-collector. This is one of the few such impressive large display pieces I have had which is also that rare quality - "relatively" affordable and with room to appreciate in value and not bankrupt you in the meantime (given that I have seen 25-100k golds that werent 2-10 times as impressive). 10.5 x 10 x 3.25 cm
